At Abreu Movers, we understand the high value of fine art and antiques - and special arrangements may be necessary to ensure that your collection will reach its destination safely. In addition, you will need to complete a high-value inventory form to assure that your art collection is not limited to minimal liability. The form will be provided by your moving sales representative.

Your mover should explain the protection plans from which you may choose. Most moving companies give basic valuation coverage per pound. However, full replacement protection is offered by most major moving companies. If you choose a Full Value coverage plan from another 3rd party site (or a similar plan from another mover) we recommend that you provide copies of the appraisal to your sales representative.

Oil paintings have a tendency to melt in the heat, so we recommend that you wait to move your paintings until cooler months. It's important that you know that the movers will not be liable if you ship your painting and it melts. Valuation coverage will not help in this case because the carrier is typically not responsible for climatic change.

We always recommend that you move your oil paintings in the fall or winter. If you have to move it in the summer, you can always store your art in a climate-controlled warehouse and move it at a later date. Another option is to move your art in a climate-controlled van, which can be expensive. You may also want to consider air freight if the first two options are not feasible.
